NAIFA Maine News & Publications

On May 9th, the Maine Bureau of Insurance will be holding a public forum on long term care insurance. This is intended to provide Maine consumers, insurance companies and other interested parties an opportunity to provide input and hear the perspectives of others. Topics will include the experiences of policy-holders, rate increases, etc. nput on issues related to long-term care insurance, including policy-holder experience and recent company rate increases. The Bureau will provide an overview of the rate review process and new claims processing rules. Additionally, basics about LTC planning , including when MaineCare (Medicaid) is applicable, will also be reviewed.

I want to encourage NAIFA members to attend, but more importantly, I would like you to consider inviting clients who have had positive experience with their long term care insurance coverage. Typically, we only hear the bad… this is an opportunity to share the good that LTC insurance does every day.

I’ve attached the notice from the Bureau (click here: Notice of Public Forum on LTC Insurance 3 4 16.pdf.) Please, mark your calendars and try to attend. If you can’t attend, please consider submitting written remarks.
